Reporting to the Senior Director, Industrial, the Planner Scheduler will take a lead role in schedule development on large scale engineering projects as well as training and mentoring project staff.

The position is location in Ottawa, ON

what you will be working on:

- Work with multi-disciplinary teams on various types of projects including Bid build, Design Build, EPC, and P3/P6 contracts.
- Interface with operations, clients, and subcontractors to plan and develop baseline schedules and narratives, as well as document impacts to work and support resolution of issues.
- Prepare resource loaded CMP, 120-day, and weekly schedules in accordance with contract requirement, company standards and reporting guidelines for presentation to senior management and clients.
- Responsible for estimating activity durations and schedule optimization.
- Maintain and update complex schedules and ensure proper timing, compatibility and competency of master and supporting schedules.
- Organize the project team and the scope of work, using a work breakdown structure.
- Schedule tasks in a logical manner so that lower-level schedule elements support the top-level milestones.
- Allocate the total budget resources to time-phased control accounts.
- Establish objective means for measuring work.
- Control the project by analyzing cost and performance variances, assessing final costs, developing corrective actions, and controlling changes to the integrated baseline.

what we are looking for:

- 5+ years’ experience in project planning and scheduling for infrastructure development projects
- Advanced understanding of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
- Working experience in project controls including cost control, performance measurement, change management, delay analysis and quantity surveying.
- Working understanding of change management and schedule trending
- Skilled usage of Primavera software integrated with Time-Location software an asset.
- Experience with developing complex engineering and construction schedules for project proposals and projects in process.
- Experience performing logic analysis, CPM analysis, resource loaded, generated work breakdown structure, earned values, cost, resources, materials, work-loaded projections, S curve and cash flow diagrams.
- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them.
- Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment.
