**Job Summary**

With support from the Drop in Coordinator and the Executive Director, the Summer Recreation Coordinator will take a lead role in planning and implementing summer programming at the Women’s Centre. This includes designing and delivering programming for moms and kids, for youth, and for our drop in program. Tasks will include event planning and coordination, outreach and relationship building with community partners, working with the Communications Coordinator to promote events, gathering evaluation forms and feedback from participants, and reporting on special projects. Special projects could include working on the Consent Crew, designing workshops, or supporting the Women’s Advocate with policy action initiatives.

The Coordinator will attend regular team meetings and trainings, and work in a collaborative environment to offer a range of client-centered programming for folks identifying and living as women and their children.

Approximately 30% of the time will be dedicated to program delivery, 30% to program development (planning, promoting, reporting), 30% of the time will be dedicated to other special projects, and 10% of the time will be dedicated to assisting with drop-in services at the Women’s Centre as needed.

Main Duties of the position include:
**Program Development and Delivery**
- Researching previous years’ summer recreation programs
- Creating a summer events programming calendar
- Working with Communications Coordinator to promote and advertise events
- Coordinating outreach and registration with new program participants;
- Planning weekly activities including food, program supplies and transportation
- Recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to assist with program delivery, as required;
- Food preparation, welcoming new participants, coordinating participants’ departures for scheduled activities, facilitating conversation, playing and problem-solving with kids;
- Evaluation and debrief of weekly events, as well as conducting ongoing and final evaluation with program participants;
- Preparation and delivery of program budget;
- Manage final reporting requirements to funders, accompanied by statistics and financial records relevant to the activities.

**Community Partnerships**
- Contacting community partners to assist in recruiting participants for the events
- Contacting government agencies, organizations, and private companies and individuals for the purposes of seeking donations, including facilities for events, activities, food, and other resources the program may require.

**General**
- Regular check-ins with the VFWC Drop in Coordinator;
- Attend weekly VFWC team meetings
- Help ensure a warm and welcoming atmosphere at all times;
- Assist with enquiries, phone calls, and visits during drop-in hours;
- Assist with operation and maintenance of the Women’s Centre.
- Collaborating with the Drop in Coordinator to develop additional tasks that align with the Centre’s needs, and the student’s interests and skills.

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Undergraduate training in Women’s Studies, Social Work, Education, Political Science or Communications, or similar experience
- Experience with program coordination and management
- Experience developing, updating, and understanding operational budgets and
- Experience coordinating a team
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and deal effectively with multiple distractions
- Must be able to work in a cross cultural and cross income level environment
- Aptitude for maintaining accurate and detailed records
- Aptitude for working with people
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Ability to plan and participate in recreational activities for moms and kids
- Ability to demonstrate a non-judgmental and empathetic attitude towards women
- Knowledge of the social issues facing Yukon women

**Eligible Applicants**:

- Must not hold another full-time (30+ hours) summer job during the placement.
- Must pass a security clearance requirement.
- Must identify as a woman.
- Must be a post-secondary student, aged 15-30, planning to return to school in the fall.
- Driver’s license is preferable.
