Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health care organization, reporting to Pharmacy Automation Systems Manager, the Automation and Informatics Pharmacotherapy Specialist (AIPS) is uniquely positioned to advance positive user experience with integrated systems and associated technologies. This role brings you a great opportunity to lead integration and optimization of pharmacy automation systems projects, workflows, pharmacy informatics, data analytics, and current Health Information System (HIS). AIPS helps team alignment with medication management best practices in advancing clinical care delivery. You will act as a mentor for pharmacy staff in matters related to automation systems and pharmacy informatics. When assigned you will also precept pharmacy students, residents and other learners within the organization. You will be also be able to provide direct patient care and perform other functions within your scope. Work will be conducted in accordance with established professional standards and the hospital's policies and procedures.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
**_Some responsibilities include:_**
- Providing support and leadership on pharmacy automation and informatics related projects including system upgrades and new systems implementation
- As an EPIC certified user, work collaboratively with the Digital Solutions team and relevant clinical teams for EPIC and pharmacy automation in maintenance and optimization of HIS
- Participate in the development and implementation of medication related policies & procedures related to pharmacy automation and informatics
- Provide leadership on medication and automation related tasks performed by Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Automation Analysts and learners are in accordance to SJHH policies and procedures.
- Assist with report design and data analytics to gain actionable insights e.g. Narcotic Surveillance, Inventory optimization, pharmacy practice metrics, and other
- Works as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team to ensure quality and continuity of patient care.
- Act a leader in promoting medication safety through proactive review and enhancement of pharmacy automation systems and HIS.
- Provide education and solves queries for pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals on matters relating to pharmacy automation and informatics.
- Provide mentorship and support to pharmacy staff by reviewing and coaching them on pharmacy regulatory and best practice standards.
- Contribute to corporate efforts and initiatives, as appropriate, to enhance SJHH’s mission, vision and values.
- Perform duties in a manner that demonstrates the employee’s commitment to developing a culture of patient and staff safety through accountability, reliability, trust and team work
- Provide customer centric care, recognizing both patients and other internal stakeholders (e.g.: other healthcare providers) as customers
- Review and adheres to all applicable NAPRA standards of practice, OCP standards, and hospital and pharmacy services policies and procedures
- Undertake regular continuing education to maintain professional clinical and leadership competence

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, Part A, in good standing required.
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited university required. Hospital Pharmacy Residency and or Master's Degree of Health Informatics preferred
- Hospital Pharmacy Residency plus 3 years experience in practice area or related practice area OR Advanced Clinical Degree plus 2 years experience in practice area or related practice area OR 5 years experience in practice area or related practice area
- Certification or advanced training in an electronic health record (preferably EPIC), pharmacy automation systems or health systems technology is an asset
- Expected to demonstrate leadership qualities within the Pharmacy team with respect to medication use system, automation and pharmacy informatics
- Demonstrates strong customer service orientation and skill working collaboratively with others in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills
