We are currently searching for **a Recreation Aide **to join our team. This is a full-time position at our Leduc location.

**Position Summary**:
The Recreation Aide supports the recreation department under the supervision of the Recreation Therapist (or Site Manager) in the delivery and implementation of recreation and leisure programs for our residents.

**What You Bring to the Role**:

- Prior experience in recreation/activity coordination working with seniors and residents with dementia/special needs in a similar setting is required.
- Strong written and verbal English skills to effectively communicate with all residents, visitors and at all levels within the organization required.
- Demonstrates emotional intelligence (use of perception and understanding of the resident and families ‘emotions as well as one’s emotions to manage situations towards the goal of effective resident care) required.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work and multi-task.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Must be flexible with schedule with ability and interest to work evenings and weekends

**Your Responsibilities**:

- Organizes and leads recreation and leisure programs that are suitable and enjoyable to the resident needs as identified by the supervisor.
- Assists with planning and facilitating group and 1:1 programs, outings and special events.
- Organize and prepare materials needed for upcoming programs.
- Seasonal set up/removal and inventory of site decorations.
- Supports Recreation Department to ensure financial aspects of Recreation activities/events are accurately monitored, collected, etc.
- Display a positive and professional demeanor in representing the recreation department for the building.
- Work collaboratively with the Recreation Therapy team along with other interdisciplinary team members.
- Complete related administrative work such as daily intervention statistics and various other administration work
- Ensure that the work environment and program materials are kept clean, safe, and in good maintenance.
- Participate in in-service training and staff development courses
- Follow OHS Regulations/ Report related concerns/ Assist with Hazard Assessments
- Other duties as assigned.
