Cannex Contracting is a deep underground civil utility installation company with more than 40 years of work history. We install water, sewer, and storm drainage piping in, and around the greater Calgary area.

For those unfamiliar with the terminology, we use powered mobile equipment (excavators, back-hoes, wheel loaders, track loaders, dozers, etc.) to dig deep excavations (3m+) and install piping to provide commercial and residential lots with potable water, sewage removal, and storm drainage.

We are currently at the peak of our season (winter is off season), and hiring for many positions to aid in completing all the remaining work. Beyond construction labor we are also hiring for other positions like; skilled labor (pipe layer & pipe layers helper), office administrative assistant (focus on safety), and powered mobile equipment operators (front-end wheel loader, and excavator operator). Construction Laborer / General Labor

Construction laborer’s at Cannex Contracting provide general assistance to operators, pipe layers, and foreman to aid in the installation of piping. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

- Assist equipment operators with lining up manhole material and valve casings for backfill
- Assist in loading and unloading of equipment and materials from delivery vessels
- Assist pipe layer with homing pipe
- Assist supervisors with setup and marking for survey, track line, and fitting line ups
- Begin journey into the operation of heavy equipment operation by learning to use and operate packers
- Cooperate and participate in all safety procedures and requirements
- Flag both pedestrian and vehicle traffic around work locations through detour routes
- Grout and concrete around fittings and piping both inside and outside of manholes
- Manually (lifting and carrying) provide piping, tools, and materials to pipe layers
- Prepare, and rig pipe, and manhole material for lifts into excavations
- Setup and takedown fence, barricade, and traffic signage to protect the public from entry into the work site
- Shovel materials (earth, gravel, and sand) in excavations as necessary to expose or cover piping
- Spotting and directing for heavy equipment operators to excavate, and move around job sites

Job Requirements
- A reliable vehicle to get too and from site (job sites change weekly all-around Calgary, often with no nearby bus routes)
- Ability to lift 50lbs regularly without hazard to your personal health
- No experience necessary (_but preferred)_
- Personal Protective Equipment (_PPE_): CSA approved (_green triangle_) work boots with toe protection and a minimum of 6inches of ankle support (hardhat, high-vis vests, and safety glasses provided)
- The ability to stand, climb, and move daily for a 10-hour shift, Monday to Saturday

Contract length: 4 - 6 months

**Salary**: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
