_**Settlement Worker Position**_
- **Responsibilities**:_
- Provide individualized settlement support to newcomer individuals and families, including needs assessment, information, and referral services.
- Facilitate appropriate referrals and access to services in the community.
- Organize, plan, and implement group activities to address the needs of newcomers
- Participate in regular program, team, community, and regional meetings
- Develop and implement community outreach plans to promote AIWCC programs and services
- Maintain and update all client information in a customized database
- Prepare and submit timely statistical and progress reports as required
- Ensure high quality of program delivery for clients
- Organize orientation/information sessions for new immigrants on various topics of interest
- Participate in outreach activities by doing presentations, distributing promotional materials
- Assist clients with information, referrals, and supporting counselling, as required
- Provide data entry and maintain accurate records.
- Report on activities, delivery, and outcome of the program to the Department Manager
- Ensure clients data entry is complete in Apricot and iCare data bases
- Attend and participate in AIWCC events
- Other duties as assigned by Program Supervisor
- **Additional Requirements**_:

- Demonstrate a high level of initiative and enthusiasm
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Strong background in administrative duties and IT
- **Education and Experience**:_
- Social Worker diploma, Settlement studies diploma or equivalent post secondary education or training in the human services field
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in the settlement and/or community work sectors with a focus on newcomers and immigrant
- Excellent oral and written skills in English as well as another language
- Relevant experience working with immigrants and acknowledge of barriers faced by new immigrants/newcomers
- Knowledge and experience in working with diverse groups of youth is an asset
- Knowledge of community resources available in the greater Edmonton area.
- Understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting immigrant and refugee communities
- Ability to work independently, with individuals, with small groups and as a member of a team in multicultural setting
- Effective interpersonal communication skills and strong writing skills
- Effective communication skills to work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Ability to engage clients via online communication tools such as Zoom, Teams, Google Meet
- Strong computer skills and the ability to work productively with Google products such as Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc.
- Can demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong, ongoing partnerships with partner community agencies.
- Good organizational skills, ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy in data
- collection and reporting
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends

**Details**:

- The compensation for this position is **$34** per hour for 20 hrs per week and is based on qualifications and experience.
