Salix Resource Management Ltd. (Salix) is a full-service environmental consulting company based in Alberta, Canada with offices in both Calgary and Sundre. Salix has extensive upstream oil and gas experience working on former oil and gas sites throughout Alberta, with an emphasis on native prairie assessment and reclamation. This emphasis on native prairie reclamation provides our staff with the opportunity to work in and explore one of the largest tracts of native prairie left in North America. On the job training and mentorship is provided.

Salix is currently seeking an enthusiastic and qualified individual for an exciting opportunity to build, grow, and lead our Remediation and Assessment team full time. This position is eligible for hybrid work and may also involve up to 30% fieldwork.

**Responsibilities**:

- Build and lead a group of industry professionals to perform environmental site assessments;
- Manage small to large remediation programs, that could include including risk assessments, remedial options analysis and conceptual site models;
- Liaise with clients, including setting up budgets, workplans and conducting some business development;
- Develop accurate scopes of work, schedules, and be able to manage deliverables;
- Prepare professional environmental reports and review the work of junior staff;
- Lead, train and mentor junior staff on all aspects of environmental site assessment;
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and regulators; and
- Stay tuned-in to industry initiatives, updates and changes to regulations, and be able to update staff accordingly.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Agrology, Conservation and Reclamation, Engineering or related discipline;
- Professional designation in Alberta (i.e. P.Ag., P.Eng.);
- Minimum of 7 - 10 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, with emphasis on project management and delivery that includes environmental investigations and remediation;
- Solid understanding of legislation and regulatory processes related to site remediation, risk assessment and site closure in Alberta;
- Working knowledge of risk management protocols and contaminated site clean up alternatives;
- Ability to operate vehicles safely with a valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License, and a clean drivers abstract; and
- A willingness to travel and work in the field up to 30% of the time.
