**Purpose of Position**:
Under the direction of the Banquet/Catering Manager, the Porter position is primarily responsible for function set ups - professionally and efficiently maintaining Club areas and fulfilling members and their guests’ needs and requests. Ensures member, guest and management satisfaction and provides the highest quality service as expected by same. Performs all work in accordance with essential functions and responsibilities as described below and in the spirit of the Club’s mission and vision.

**Responsibilities**:
Under the direction of the Banquet/Catering Manager the Porter is responsible for performing Porter/ Houseman duties as outlined below. You have great customer service skills; we are a small team and need someone that is willing to learn all aspects of the operation. Every day will be different, which will require flexibility to think outside the box, multitask and change courses quickly when business requires.

**Duties shall include but not be limited to**:

- Complete function tables, chairs set up / breaks down as required, move back furniture in lounge room as originally set up. (If you are not sure of the set-up, ask your supervisor, the Catering Manager, or the Duty Manager.)
- Respond to any last minute set up changes, and daily set up requirement
- Set up sound system, projectors, screens, take down and store properly, storing and manning all sound system,
- Assist with transportation or errands as required
- Help vacuum high traffic area and wet mop entrances, hallways, and stair to rink on daily basis
- Tennis courts daily maintenance: change all garbage bags.
- Clean tables, chairs and cushions on patio, cleaning of outside areas (patios set up backyard furniture, cushions, umbrellas, halfway house etc.)
- Refill B.B.Q. tanks, inventory, and stock.
- Perform all repairs cleaning duties and repairs as assigned.
- Report any repairs issues/ problems on your shift to your supervisor.
- Assist with set up and breakdown of Tournament BBQ and beverage stations, sound system, tents
- Sweep, vacuum, and dust all necessary rooms and patios, balloon room
- Attend to any emergency situations and make any necessary repairs.
- Report, repairs or problems on your shift to your supervisor.
- Follow the dress code set by the Club and is clean and neatly presented at all times.
- Always leave your work area/ equipment’s used clean after finishing a project. Put back tools in assigned locations, maintain clean maintenance office
- Lock all assigned exterior doors at the end of your shift.
- In an emergency situation, notify the Duty Manager and leave a written message as to what happened on the Maintenance Supervisor’s desk.
- Remove snow and salt pedestrian paths and side walk in winter time

**Qualifications**:

- Graciously tends the needs of members and guests, and anticipates requests. Creates an environment that facilitates a welcoming, enjoyable Club experience.
- Good oral communication skills, ability to interact with members and guest in a professional manner.
- Ability to work both independently and within a small team
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a busy environment
- Collaborative spirit, willing to pitch in to assist the team
- Ability to lift to 50lbs
- Must have a drivers license

**Cleanliness and work ethics**:

- Presents an immaculately groomed and presentable appearance in the appropriate uniform.
- Always be the first to say _“hello”_ ensure your body language is hospitable to the guest/customer, make all our customers feel welcome/appreciated, etc.
- Sense of urgency in providing quality service in an efficient and timely manner
- Always be friendly and polite to guest and staff. Make every effort to be helpful Report to Set-Up duty manager for direction, to set rooms according to updated floor plans and instruction
- Report any customer concerns or complaints to your manager, Banquet Captain, or duty manager
- Clean as you work, if there is a piece of garbage on the floor or beside the waste basket pick it up and dispose of it appropriately, etc

**Work Environment and Physical Demands**:

- Follows established health and safety compliance.
- Requires indoor and occasional outdoor labor.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced service environment and can maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, lifting, bending, reaching, communicating effectively, and visual acuity.
- Requires communicating effectively with members, guests, and supervisors
- Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
