The McMichael Canadian Art Collection ranks among Canada’s top public galleries in size and significance and welcomes on average more than 110,000 visitors annually. The McMichael’s permanent collection consists of more than 6,500 works by historic and present-day Canadian artists, including Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven and their contemporaries, Indigenous artists and artists from the many diasporic communities. The impressive gallery spaces, across two levels, are surrounded by a network of outdoor trails, outdoor sculpture garden and 100 acres of conservation land with breathtaking views of the Humber Valley.

We are seeking a **French Programs & Community Engagement Coordinator** to coordinate the development and implementation of the French-Language programs and teaching resources for McMichael school and community groups. This position is responsible for coordinating the engagement and communication with various francophone community groups and educational organizations, developing collaborations and establishing enduring partnerships. The Coordinator will develop and implement French-language content training that supports the delivery of the Creative Learning & Program content and assist with the training across the organization.

A specific focus on French literacy and art-based school and public programming will be applied to all program creations. The Coordinator will also be part of the McMichael’s educator team, leading school programs, pilot projects and public engagements and host French public programming.

Through the development and implementation of community programs and events for francophone children, youth, and adult audiences, there will be associated focus on community engagement and outreach within the local and regional francophone communities. This position will also support the recruitment of French-Language educators, art Instructors and assistants, and will identify the French-Language training needs in relation to the gallery’s educational programs.

Competencies Required:

- As this position is funded by a grant supporting French-Language initiatives, applicants should be fully fluent in oral and written French, with an excellent understanding of francophone culture in Ontario and Canada, including newcomers’ francophone communities.
- A graduate or undergraduate degree in French Language Studies, Education, Fine Arts or Museum Studies is required.
- 3 years’ experience within a public gallery/museum or other cultural institution, or 3 years’ experience in developing and leading educational programs and community events is required.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work respectfully and collaboratively in a dynamic, multi-faceted team environment and work independently.
- Excellent customer service and efficient in written and oral communication skills in English and French is required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint), Google Meet and Zoom.
- Flexibility to work on weekends on occasion, as per programming needs.

**Working Conditions**:

- On-site and remote work environment
- Involves contact with the public in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment.
- Involves touring and speaking to large groups while visitors are at the gallery or during outreach programs.
- May require some travelling to visit various Francophone communities.
- May require some weekend work.

**Salary**: $45,000.00 with flexible work environment, health & dental coverage, OMERS defined-benefit pension, reciprocal attractions and social activities.
