**Counsellor Job Description**

**POSITION**: Counsellor

**PURPOSE**: To provide a positive, fun and safe camp experience for groups of children ages 5-15 of all backgrounds, gender and ability

**TERM**: July 4th - August 26th (8-week position)

**AGE**: Must be 16 years of age as of July 4th, 2022

**RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO**:
**Pre-Camp**:

- Attend mandatory staff training June 24th-26th
- Complete CPR/Standard First Aid Training, standard level C
- Provide a Police and Vulnerable Sector Check

**Camp**:

- Become familiar with and obey all camp policies and procedures, as well as Covid-19 guidelines laid out by OCA and Public Health
- Co-ordinate all camp activities with Covid-19 measures in mind
- Be on-site from 8:00am-5:00pm every day
- Programming implementation (crafts, games, activities, etc.)
- Immediately report all camper, staff, and parent issues to Program Coordinator and/or Director
- Assist with daily tasks (cleaning, dishes, sweeping)
- Offer support to other staff members
- Ensure inclusion of all campers
- Offer mentorship to Leaders in Training
- Lead by example (i.e., Covid rules, sun safety, enthusiasm)
- Lead and organize games and activities
- Provide first aid as needed
- Provide exceptional customer service to parents daily
- Develop positive relationships with campers and parents
- Keep parents updated on daily events
- Attend all staff meetings
- Ensure campers are signed in and out by the proper authority
- Report any incidences to Camp Director

**SUPPORT**:Camp Director, Camp Assistant Directors

**RESOURCES**: Camp Director, Camp Assistant Director, Camp Staff Manual, Program Literature (provided on site and when requested otherwise)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $15.60-$16.55 per hour

Expected hours: 43.75 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person

Expected start date: 2024-07-01
