General Description

Cart Connection is an industry leader that specializes in the re-manufacture of shopping carts and related products to retailers across Canada. With an array of product lines including New, Eco Green and Previously Owned Carts, we strive to accommodate each retailer’s specific requirements.

**Requirements**:

- _**Process the greatest number of carts at the highest level of quality at the lowest possible costs.**_
- Passionate about the position, effective people skills and ability to solve problems.
- Keep the stripping department flowing by feeding the models required to strip.
- Load the local truck daily.
- Operate oven and shot blaster to meet or surpass production requirements.
- Certified for short and long fork forklift operations.
- Perform daily oven and shot blaster checklists and complete production logs.
- Load / unload Burn off oven.
- Load / process / unload shot blaster.
- Utilize safe methods of maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all equipment.
- Request and maintain all materials inventory levels to operate all equipment under departments responsibility as outlined above.
- Do not block fire aisles, meet federal, and local and MOE standards.
- Maintain clean and organized workspace with products properly staged in the department.
- Tipper bins are to be dumped at the end of the shift.
- Assist other Production Team members as needed.
- Operate tools and work together in the department following Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain proper product flow through the department floor.
- Maintain safe and organized workspace daily.
- Communicate issues or concerns to the Group Leader.

Competencies
- Passionate about being a successful Burn and Blast Operator
- Thrives in a Team based environment.
- Secondary School Completion or GDE equivalent or related education.
- Physically fit individual who can lift 35+ lbs.
- Familiar with the safe and efficient use of hand tools as well as small power tools.
- General labour or physically demanding job experience is an asset.
- Forklift license is required.
- Welding experience is an asset

Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Adhere to and support the safe operating procedures for all assigned duties.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) including hearing protection, eye protection, CSA approved footwear and other safety equipment as required by Management.
- Report any safety concerns immediately to other Team Leaders and the Plant Leader.

Continuous Improvements
- Improve technical proficiency by participating in training and development activities.
- Participate with team members in continuous improvement projects and suggestions.
- Constant process improvement - Recommend and implement with proper approval from Plant Manage process, equipment, fixture, product flow, etc. improvements to increase through put, quality, reduce costs, or meet safety standards.

- Be continuously aware of quality and express concerns to your Team Leader and Quality Control.

Working Conditions
- Hazards that might be found within the workplace include equipment/machinery with electricity, moving parts, hot solutions, inadequate ventilation, or other substances, lifting, pinching, cuts, repetitive motions, noxious fumes, sharpened instruments, or tools, toxic or corrosive substances.

Physical Demands / Efforts
- A variety of power tools may be used on a regular basis such as pallet and hand jacks, stripping tools, pry bars, manual lift devices, hand tools, etc.
- Examples of Physical Effort and Physical Demand are standing, walking, working in an awkward position, lifting objects, or holding the body in one position for prolonged periods of time.
- Physical activity includes bending or reaching to do minor lifting for typically more than 2 hours per shift.
- Hearing protection will be required as needed.

**Salary**: $17.00-$18.50 per hour
