**Information Security Specialist: Triage - Band 4**

**Role Summary**:
The Information Security Analyst / Triage Analyst participates in the delivery of the Information Security incident response mandate.

The role’s mandate includes a primary focus on investigative incident response, in addition to the monitoring of systems and networks to identify malicious activities, events and vulnerabilities, and leveraging security intelligence from both internal and external sources in order to provide a comprehensive view of the threat landscape.

**Accountabilities**:
This role is part of the Digital Security Threat Management team, responsibilities will include:

- Security Incident Response:

- Monitoring of security events with subsequent classification and investigation.
- Identify, document, escalate and manage security events to support the established Incident Management and CSIRT processes.
- Perform technical investigation on confirmed threats and other suspicious activity using a variety of endpoint and network tools and technologies.
- Perform investigations and reporting on forensic artefacts in an effort to reconstruct events and determine root cause of any security incidents.
- Facilitate global security monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability assessment programs.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours pager support for escalations and incidents.
- Threat analysis
- Basic knowledge of malware analysis using any combination of static/dynamic examination, code reverse engineering, and analysis of the output of popular sandbox technologies.

**Competencies**:

- University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, mathematics, engineering, or comparable professional education/training in a field relevant to IT Security.
- Minimum 1 year in IT/Information Security, preferably with experience in one of the following areas; security operations, computer forensics, threat intelligence, or software/malware reverse engineering.
- Detailed Internet, networking, and computer knowledge (Software & Hardware)
- Knowledge of multiple operating systems and applicable system administration skills (Windows, Solaris, Linux).
- Familiarity with the tools and techniques commonly used by malicious actors including vulnerability scanners, malware, and penetration testing platforms/frameworks.
- Knowledge of Information Security principles, protocols, practices and industry standards.
- Programming experience in one or more languages, with Python scripting being of particular interest.
- Understanding of existing and emerging Information Security technologies.
- Strong in all areas of communication, able to interface with management and senior staff.
- Good technology generalist, with a good understanding of all aspects of IT especially architecture.
- Excellent written communication skills and presentation skills.
- Strong skills in report writing.
- Professional designation relating to Information Security (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA) is an advantage but not mandatory.
