**PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**

Under the authority and supervision of the Senior Director, Apprenticeship Program, the Industry Liaison (IL) will develop and maintain effective relationships with small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and other industry influencers related to the skilled trades in order to encourage the registration of SMEs with NWAC’s National Apprenticeships Program (NAP). They will achieve this by working in close coordination with the Engagement Team to ensure the development of multiple networks and partnerships with both the communities and influencers and in skilled trades-related industries.

SCOPE

The IL will be responsible for working within the Engagement Team to develop and strengthen networks with SMEs and industry leaders to promote awareness of, and registration with, the NAP. The IL will also support the planning, organizing, and hosting of online engagements and information webinars.

The IL will meet targets related to recruitment, online engagements and webinars and help ensure that those targets are completed on time, on budget, and using culturally appropriate and gender-based lenses that respect First Nation, Métis, Inuit Women and Girls and Indigenous members of the 2SLGBTQQIA communities.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

1. Plan, organize and facilitate online engagement sessions and information webinars to provide information on the NAP.

2. Work in close coordination with the other members of the Engagement Team to develop and expand a network of SMEs and organizations to encourage the registration of SMEs with the NAP. This may include, but will not be limited to appearing and speaking at meetings, conferences, and trades shows.

3. Perform other related duties as required

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- University degree in the area of business, sales, or other related studies or equivalent lived experience working on Indigenous issues will be considered;
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in sales/business development;
- Experience building and expanding third-party stakeholder networks and partnerships, especially with industry;
- Relevant experience working or volunteering with Indigenous peoples, groups, or organizations is an asset; and,
- Relevant experience working skilled-trades related industries is an asset.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**

**Knowledge**

The employee must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

- Strong knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and internationally, their cultures, histories and traditions;
- Understanding and knowledge of Indigenous issues, and norms and standards relevant to promotion and protection of Indigenous women’s rights;
- Significant knowledge related to various skilled trades and certification requirements. Especially Red Seal certifications;
- Knowledge of key issues impacting Indigenous women and girls in Canada and internationally; and
- Some understanding of social policy (including violence prevention, employment and gender equality).

**Skills**

The employee must demonstrate the following skills:

- Strong writing and verbal communication skills in English (fluency in French is a strong asset);
- Strong networking, relationship-building and public speaking skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Ability to minimize and resolve disputes diplomatically and expediently;
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize work effectively and under pressure;
- Ability to facilitate meetings; and,
