The City of Richmond Hill has an opening for a contract Elections Assistant to assist in preparation for the upcoming York Region District School Board By-election. This position will work in the Office of the Clerk for approximately three to four months.

The City of Richmond Hill is required to administer a York Region District School Board Trustee (Wards 1, 2 and 4) By-lection. Voting Day is Monday July 15, 2024. The Election will be conducted using an electronic voters’ list and optical scan voter tabulators using paper ballots. Reporting to the City Clerk, with work direction from the Deputy City Clerk and Elections Coordinator, the Elections Assistant will help in preparation for all aspects of the By-election, as well as some post elections task.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assist with the planning and organizing of the effective delivery of the 2024 School Board By-election.
- Assist in coordinating the people, materials, voting locations and equipment necessary to effectively implement the election.
- Assist in the development of forms and templates necessary to effectively implement the election.
- Assist with implementing policies and procedures related to various aspects of the election.
- Support the preparation, updating and the handling of the Voters’ List and voter notification process to ensure all voters are informed of where and when they are able to vote.
- Assist in coordinating the municipality’s election website information
- Assist in the inventory and organization of election supplies before and after the election

**Education and Experience**:

- Post-secondary diploma or degree (Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration or suitable equivalent)
- Related experience with administering elections, municipal elections preferred

**Required Skills/Knowledge**:

- Related experience with administering elections, municipal elections preferred
- Knowledge of project management fundamentals would be an asset
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
- Valid ‘G’ license and access to a reliable vehicle
