The Recreation Department is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Recreation Leader II to assist our team supporting programs and services in the areas of arenas and aquatics.

This is a regular, part-time position working a minimum of 25 hours per week, plus additional hours up to 35 hours per week, as required.

This supervisory position will assist the Recreation Coordinator and will work with staff in planning and implementing programs, initiatives, and special events for the Public Skate program as well as the seasonal outdoor pool Learn to Swim and Public Swim programs.

The Recreation Leader II will directly supervise Skate Attendants, Aquatic Leaders and Casual Instructors while ensuring the safety of participants. This position will also ensure parent concerns are resolved effectively, assist with purchasing equipment and supplies for programs, and schedule substitute instructors or lead the class when regular staff members are not available.

Hours of work for this position will include weekdays and some weekend afternoon/evening shifts.

**Basic Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 education and minimum 6 months related post-secondary courses in recreation plus minimum one year of related experience working in arena / aquatic operations within a recreational facility
- Experience supervising and mentoring staff in a recreation setting
- Experience coaching or instructing children
- Knowledge of recreation programs, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of Aquatics and Skating
- Proficiency with computers (preferably experience with MS Office)
- Good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Strong team building, leadership, customer service and communication skills
- Experience with Perfect Mind would be an asset
- Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED
- A valid BC Driver's License
