The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship is accountable for integrated land and natural resource management, including objective setting for land and marine environments, effectively managing cumulative effects, and advancing reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, environmental sustainability, and economic growth.

The Skeena Land Use Policy, Planning and Ecosystems (LUPPE) division is offering a temporary assignment for a Land and Resource Coordinator (LRC). This position will work collaboratively with Indigenous Nation(s) on strategic-level land and water stewardship planning project(s). Reporting to a Skeena LUPPE project lead and working on a core project team with Indigenous government partners, the LRC will utilize their project management and strategic planning expertise to advance development of new land and water objectives with a Two-Eyed Seeing approach. Modernized land use planning aims to meaningfully weave together Indigenous and B.C. ways of governing and stewarding land and water, and reflect contemporary priorities including climate change adaptation, cumulative effects management, watershed security, economic resiliency, and reconciliation. This complex work will involve coordination across multiple initiatives and engagement with other Ministries, Nations, governments, and interest holders.

A primary role for the LRC will be to manage the Widzin Kwah Water Sustainability Project, a watershed planning project led jointly by B.C. and the Office of the Wet’suwet’en with a goal to improve the health and integrity of the Widzin Kwah (also known as the Upper Bulkley and Morice River systems).

**Job Requirements**:

- A Technical Diploma in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) OR
- An equivalent combination of education/training plus, 2 or more years’ experience working in a natural resource discipline.
- Advance training in project management.
- Experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project.
- Experience managing relationships with senior level stakeholders and leading consultation sessions.
- Experience with conflict and dispute resolution principles and practices.
- Valid B.C. driver’s licence.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

- Experience working collaboratively with Indigenous groups or governments.
- Experience in contract management.
