Join the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario as Assistant Steward, where you will support the Chief Steward in their varied role. As Assistant Steward, you are responsible for supporting the Chief Steward and, in the absence of the Chief Steward, you will assume responsibility for all tasks related to operations and events in the Lieutenant Governor's Suite.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**: Under the direction of the Chief Steward, the Assistant Steward will perform the duties listed below:

- Attend to the Lieutenant Governor throughout the day - coffee/tea, snacks, and meals
- Greet and/or escort the Lieutenant Governor when they arrive/leave the suite throughout and at the end of the day
- Support the management of the daily security and operations of the 10,500 sq foot Lieutenant Governor's Suite
- Perform or oversee the daily cleaning and high-level maintenance of the Suite, furnishings, and artwork
- Support the management of the provision of official hospitality for functions held in the Suite
- Supervise catering personnel and other staff
- Lead the set up of all receptions, lunches, and dinners hosted at the Suite
- Coordinate tours and parking for guests, volunteers, and staff
- Liaise with purchasing and suppliers to ensure that all products ordered are delivered, and are of the appropriate quality at the most competitive price
- Actively promote a safe and hazard free work environment
- Prepare billback invoices
- Conduct daily briefings for the Chief Steward
- Ensure that all machines/equipment in the kitchen are well maintained
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of all the food and beverage related areas and the inventory and control of all equipment related to food and beverage service
- Ensure upkeep and inventory for all chinaware, glassware, and silverware
- Work closely with the Chief Steward to execute special requests

**How do I qualify?**:

- Working experience in hospitality/event planning and an understanding of diverse levels of service expected when hosting high-profile events, both small and large scale
- Demonstrated collaboration and leadership skills to provide direction and guidance
- Strong attention to detail to ensure protocols and processes are followed and standards are met
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize activities and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
- Ability to lead and motivate a team of staff, adapt, and embrace strong cultural diversity
- Smart Serve certification
- First Aid/CPR training - provided by the office
- Fire Warden training - provided by the office

Hours of work:
This role is full-time and will require flexibility on evenings, weekends and holidays, with notice.
