**Trauma Informed Mental Health Counsellor **(Full time)**

**Native Healing Centre**

The Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC) requires a Trauma Informed Mental Health Counsellor. This is a full-time opportunity at the Native Healing Centre and operates as part of a multi-disciplinary team and holistic support services to Indigenous clients. This position will be centered around providing counselling support to Indian Residential Survivors and their families.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor of Social Work, Counselling or Human Services related field.
- Experience working in the Indigenous community.
- Strong understanding of Intergenerational Trauma, and trauma informed practice.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and support skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Computer literacy and strong record keeping skills.
- Ability to work in a team setting and work independently.
- Criminal record check is a requirement.

**DUTIES**

The range of duties will include:

- Provide 1:1 counselling support for IRS survivors and their families.
- Participate in and host counselling workshops for clients.
- Provide crisis intervention and 'on duty' services as needed to caseload.
- Offer trauma informed education and support for clients and families.
- Work in partnership with community agencies, and other PGNFC services.
- Starting wage $30.00 - $32.00.
