**Hours of work**:

- Sat and Sunday 3 pm to 11pm

**Compensation**:

- $26 per hour
- Paid vacation, paid sick time, paid meal break

**Position Summary**:
Alpha House is a non-profit charitable agency that provides a safe and caring environment for individuals whose lives are affected by alcohol and other drug dependencies, many whom are homeless. As an LPN in our Detox, you will be part of a nursing team responsible for care planning and delivery based on the scope of practice for LPN/RPN’s. You will also be expected to assist with Addiction Support Worker duties when time allows.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform delegated independent nursing functions within the scope of practice as determined by CLPNA for Detox clients and the homeless population who are experiencing withdrawal symptoms
- Consistently demonstrate the ability to take the initiative to make decisions/choices without direct supervision
- Maintains and ensures best practices around the infection prevention control for the program and orients staff to these procedures
- Be informed of CLS routines and maintains standards and staff training around phlebotomy and lab services
- Participates in formal and informal health teaching including preventative health concepts concerning Hepatitis A, B, C and AIDS, condom usage, nutrition, STD’s, basic sanitation, personal hygiene, pre-natal care and well-baby care
- Participate in influenza clinics and vaccinations
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (SDS, OH&S, WHMIS)
- Organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete assignments within established time frames
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them from appropriate books and manuals

**Qualifications**:

- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing along with valid registration as an LPN/RPN/RN in Alberta
- Minimum 1 nursing in the addictions field and experience in withdrawal management
- Foot and wound care would be an asset
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Computer literate including effective working skills in MS Office
- Time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with mínimal supervision.
- A well-developed sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills, including respect and empathy
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
- Knowledge of issues related to the socio-environmental determinants of health, in particular issues related to poverty and mental health
- Team player with strong written and oral communication skills

**Position Requirements**:

- Be a member in good standing with CLPNA/CPRNA/CARNA
- Current CPR Certification,
- COVID - Proof of vaccination
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (within the last 6 months)
- FOIP training (training link can be provided prior to orientation )
- Lift Training (training link can be provided prior to orientation)
- Understanding and awareness of the Protection of Persons in Care Act (document can be shared prior to orientation)
