As recipients of the TD Friends of the environment grant the Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation, we are currently seeking to employ **1 **Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance Labourer **to assist with the creation and maintenance of this gardening beautification initiative. The designate will be responsible for the maintenance and care of plants, flowers, and green spaces within designated areas. Your duties will include planting, watering, pruning, weeding, and overall landscape maintenance to ensure the beauty and health of the garden or landscape. You will work closely with members of the community and WECHC staff and independently, depending on the size and scope of the project. This role requires a passion for plants, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

**Res**pon**si**b**ili**t**i**es**:

- Assist the Community Development Coordinator with purchasing and ordering throughout the summer
- Understanding of plant care techniques, soil types, and common pests and diseases.
- Planting all types of plants such as flowers, fruits, veggies.
- Maintaining plants by watering, and trimming
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy bags of soil, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure the health and aesthetics of garden spaces.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, depending on the project requirements.
- Clear communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and clients effectively.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed in a detailed and timely manner, including incident report forms
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times, inclusive of completing daily inspections for hazards
- Assist with special projects in the community
- Consistently maintain a positive work environment for self, staff, volunteers, participants, and community members
- Assist the Community Development Coordinator in completing final report; including budget completion and statistical information.
- Actively participate in weekly staff meetings
- Problem solve and make quick, precise decisions.
- Employ standard health practices
- Other duties as assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Prior work or volunteer experience in landscaping
- Horticulture education programs at college or university level will be considered an asset
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs
- Possession of a valid Class G Driver's License and access to a vehicle for work related purposes is required.
