The Department Head, Medical Oncology - Surrey, working in partnership with key operational leaders and in alignment with the PHSA mission, vision, and values, is responsible for providing leadership, strategic planning, and oversight for the Medical Oncology Department with respect to the clinical care provided by the department, and the professional practice and conduct among members of the department.
BC Cancer - Surrey is a large treatment facility within BC Cancer and works in close collaboration with Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH). Our department has a current staff of 24 Medical Oncologists, 4 malignant hematologists as well as nurse practitioners and GP-Oncologists. The department has a longstanding reputation for clinical excellence and academia. BC Cancer - Surrey is a full service cancer centre with strong radiation oncology, medical oncology, oral oncology and supportive care.
Working towards a world free from cancer, BC Cancer has a mandate that covers the entire spectrum of cancer care, from prevention and screening to diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. BC Cancer provides a comprehensive cancer control program for the people of British Columbia in partnership with regional health authorities to deliver a range of cancer services, which include prevention, screening and early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation and palliative care. It operates six regional cancer centres in Surrey, Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria, Abbotsford and Prince George, along with two research centres that conduct research into the causes and cures for cancer.
Applications are invited from those who have graduated from an approved medical school with a specialist fellowship in Medical Oncology and at least 5 years of clinical experience practicing as a Medical Oncologist. You must be eligible for licensing by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC and for appointment to the staff of BC Cancer.
