The Kelp Rescue Initiative seeks a **full-time First Nations Liaison** to support strong relationships and partnerships with First Nations interested in kelp restoration within their territories.

**Organization Context and Goals**: The Kelp Rescue Initiative (KRI) launched in 2021 at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre with the goal of developing knowledge-based solutions to support kelp forest conservation and restoration in impacted areas along British Columbia (BC)’s vast coastline. Our key priority—to restore resilient kelp forests—is informed and accelerated using traditional knowledge, genomics, earth-systems and species distribution modeling, and collaborative baseline data collection in ecologically significant areas of coastal BC. This work is supported by strong partnerships with leading scientists at the University of Victoria, University of British Columbia and University of Calgary, with organizations including the Pacific Salmon Foundation, and with provincial, federal, and First Nations governments.

- The successful applicant will work as part of an expert community of marine scientists, with frequent opportunities to interact with a wide network of First Nations, NGOs and other partners.
- Competitive salary ($55-$60K CAD/year + benefits). This position is a continuing full-time position.
