**Basic Function**

Assists Operators with a variety of tasks in the Conversion Department and checks print quality where applicable.

**Tasks**
- Follows safe work practices in the workplace; must attend and participate in all department and appropriate plant safety meetings and training sessions.
- Report any safety concerns or hazards to supervisor, operator or lead hands.
- Read and understand the docket supplied for each order.
- Assists flex crew or operator with line start up whenever it goes down.
- Inspects in-coming supplies
- Assist with installing and changes rolls on press unwind.
- Assist with placing and changing print cylinders if required.
- Assist with ink changes
- Inspects and maintains inks to correct viscosity and colour during run.
- Select correct solvent from solvent room bring to press in safety cans provide.
- Ensure solvent base inks and solvent are kept separate and not mixed with water base inks.
- Assists cleaning printing plates and cylinders that are removed from press returning them to assigned area when required.
- Maintain a clean work area clean up ink spills remove garbage, sweep floors.
- Assist cleaning unscheduled machines and auxiliary equipment as required.
- Loads case erector with cartons.
- Adjusts the auto-pack equipment for different carton/bag sizes during set-up.
- Service label machines.
- Segregates product in which there are quality issues, advises the operator and the Q.C. person.
- Places tape in the carton sealer when required.
- Assist placing packed boxes on skids and moves full skids into isle for pick up by material handler.
- Places empty skids for production.
- Weigh, record and remove waste boxes.
- Makes up new boxes for waste places them on scrap skids.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area.
- Complies with Company policies and procedures.
- Assists with the start-up of machines by helping to pull up the bubble and pull it through the machine.
- Completes identification tags for cages and rolls.
- Takes and records ink viscosity readings.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area.
- Sweeps the floors of the work area from time to time. Monitors production to identify quality problems and advises the Operator and Shift Leader when quality does not meet standards.
- Provides quantities of ink and solvent needed during the print process.
- Assists with the weighing and changing of rolls or cages.
- Wipes down the press and cleans up the ink spills.
- Removes scrap procedures in the workplace.
- Performs all other tasks assigned by Management.

Principal Responsibilities
- Conduct daily safety checks of area and equipment.
- Assisting operator with set up and trouble shooting equipment
- Monitor process and equipment operation and product quality.
- Duties as requested by management and operators.
- Communication with oncoming shift at shift change

**Education Requirements**

☑ High School Diploma ☐ Bachelors Degree

☐ Vocational School or Some College ☐ Masters Degree

☐ Associates Degree

**Working Conditions**

Manufacturing plant
- 12 hour rotating continental shifts.
- Some overtime is required.
- **PPE required** steel toe safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses/goggles and rubber gloves when working with solvents and inks, protective gloves when cutting material.
- Summer months plant can become very warm.
- Material handling equipment lift trucks, hand trucks moving around in isles.
- Rotating equipment machines have pinch points, hot areas for burns.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $17.93-$19.06 per hour
