**Purpose of Position**

The Educational Assistant (Life Skills) delivers life skills or specialized programming to students under the direction of the classroom teacher.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Are established by the School Principal within the parameters of the job profile.

**Required Qualifications**
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent 1 to 2 years related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to follow standardized work methods and processes while working with children to support learning.
- Demonstrated ability to function in the language of classroom instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to work with special needs children to support learning.
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability to provide personal and medical care to assigned students with intensive needs.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with phyisically/emotionally demanding children.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Class 5 Driver’s license (may be a requirement for some assignments).
- First Aid, CPR.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
- WHMIS training.
- Specialized training related to specific areas; e.g. Braille
