**PROJECT SPECIALIST**

The Project Specialist is accountable for the engineering, cost, schedule, quality, reporting and overall coordination for the engineering, procurement and construction phases of assigned projects.

**Key Responsibilities**

Area 1:
Develop and implement safe and reliable capital projects.
- Support the interface between contractors and Cote Gold departments to develop the overall engineering for assigned projects from the design phase through implementation.
- Work closely with other Cote Gold engineering departments to ensure a clear scope of work and proper business case justification.
- Support the development of scopes of work for internal review.
- Liaise with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance and supply chain to facilitate seamless project execution.
- Develop cost estimates for project scope and obtain approvals through the authorization for expenditure process.
- Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle and provide updated schedule and cost forecasts.
- Identify project delivery risk and develop mitigation strategies to safeguard the assigned project outcomes.
- Support effective execution of all aspects of the project team deliverables, including direct technical deliverables, as well as environmental, safety and regulatory deliverables.
- Provide input into technical deviation requests.
- Coordinate requests from third party contractors and consultants.
- Make decisions and resolve execution issues to ensure projects remain on track, balancing cost, schedule and quality.
- Ensure third parties fulfill all of the requirements in the respective agreements.
- Create work orders and change orders.
- Participate in engineering reviews as required.
- Ensure appropriate project controls are in place and analyzed such that real time knowledge of project execution is available, understood and acted upon.

Operational excellence.
- Seek opportunities to improve the projects department.
- Be proactive and solution driven and implement operational improvements.
- Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
- Continually seek to improve your skills as an Operations Project Management Specialist.
- Identify and resolve inefficiencies or problems through collaboration with the Cote and contractor teams.
- Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Consider risk amongst the five dimensions (production, time, quality, sustainability and cost).

Area 3:
Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.
- Provide leadership and direction to the various stakeholders to ensure that the construction plan objectives are met.
- Foster an inclusive work environment.
- Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
- Mentor and train new team members.
- Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
- Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
- Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
- Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.

Qualifications

**Minimum Requirements and Nice to Haves**

minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents- Earthworks Engineer: A bachelor's degree in Civil or Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Registration (or eligibility to register) as a Professional Engineer in Ontario (PEO) is considered an asset.

Work experience - Nature & Length- A minimum of 3 years of related work experience
- Previous experience in open pit mining or mineral processing (specifically gold processing) is considered an asset.

Additional qualifications - Competency requirements- Knowledge of applicable codes and legislation in mining and construction.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings,
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Good observational and analytical skills.
- Must be able to handle a high level of confidentiality.
