**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Livestock Labourer primarily supports the day-to-day care of livestock at Black Creek Pioneer Village (BCPV). The role is primarily responsible for feeding, grooming and stall cleaning regimes. The Labourer also supports cleaning/sanitation regimes. On occasion, the Livestock Labourer supports programs by sharing knowledge of 19th century agricultural practices.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Performs tasks related to daily animal care regimes for BCPV’s livestock which includes fowl, sheep, goats, rabbits and horses. Demonstrates basic-level knowledge of breed livestock animals (e.g. physical traits, behaviour/temperament, dietary needs, etc.).
- Identifies potential hazards to animals, including predator control and pasture management of noxious plants (ex: thistle, burdock, deadly Night ShadeBrings any concerns to supervisor.
- Assists with daily site inspections of equipment and areas where animals reside in coordination with the Head of Livestock.
- On occasion, supports the sharing of livestock knowledge through programs.
- Actively monitors animal and visitor safety.
- Adheres to all safety procedures associated with handling livestock.

**What will you need to succeed**:

- Secondary school diploma, actively pursuing or possessing a degree/diploma in Agriculture or Equine students being an asset.
- One (1) year of experience working in agricultural or farm setting.
- Experience in sharing knowledge of large animals in a public setting is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Livestock breeds and their care.
- Strong problem-solving and time management abilities.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Willingness to work a varied schedule, including weekends and evenings when required.
