Working as part of a collaborative Maintenance team and reporting to the Maintenace Manger, the **Carpenter Facilities Specialist **supports our mission and vision to build a supportive and caring community by performing routine and preventative maintenance and repair procedures on facilities, mechanical equipment, and utility systems.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Complete carpentry projects, general maintenance, drywalling, and framing.
- Oversee construction under the Facilities Manager.
- Cut, shape, and trim materials to precise measurements using hand tools, power saws, and specialized machinery.
- Install and assemble wooden structures, fixtures, cabinets, doors, windows, and trim according to project requirements.
- Repair, replace, or modify existing wooden structures, fixtures, and components as needed.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, performing regular maintenance and repairs as necessary.
- Assist and perform tasks of a general nature in connection with maintenance, repair and construction tasks in the upkeep of the residence.
- Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance schedules, job logs, and MSDS sheets.
- Use personal protective equipment and proper procedures when performing tasks or using equipment.
- When required, will provide oversight and direction to subcontractors for project work within capabilities.
- Assist with the renovation/remodeling of buildings.
- Participate as a member in a team environment by promoting and maintaining professional conduct, resolving conflict, acknowledging individual differences, and supporting team members and clients.
- Working in the facilities repairing and maintaining safety of the physically milieu for the clients in our care.
- Other assigned duties as needed.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 5 years experience in carpentry.
- Demonstrated skill in the use of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, as well as the ability to write simple correspondence.
- Basic math skills as required by the role.
- Ability to problem-solve and carry out instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds and function calmly in situations that require sensitivity, tack, and diplomacy.
- Ability to be adaptable, reliable, and tolerate high-stress levels.
- Demonstrated good judgment and decision-making skills.
- First Aid Level C, Criminal Record Check with VSS, Health Assessment.

**Other Job Requirements**
- Must have own reliable transportation; travel is required.
- May be required to work overtime.
- Successful Criminal Record Check with VSS.
- Successful Health Assessment.

**Special notes**:

- Driver’s License: G class required.
- Must provide a clean Drivers Abstract.
- Physical capability to perform the duties of the job. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; frequently lift and/or move 25 kg. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
- Ability to withstand exposure to outside weather including extreme heat or cold. May at times be exposed to toxic substances and must be able to take necessary precautions.
- Noise level is usually moderate to occasionally loud.

**Pay Scale**: $24 - $31 per hour plus an additional $3.00 per hour wage enhancement provided by the provincial government, as reflected in the job posting.

Pay: $27.00-$34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
