Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking an **Emergency Management Specialist.**

**Qualifications**:

- Education:
o Post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent experience.

o ICS 100 and 200 required.

o ICS 300 and 400 considered an asset.

o Certification in Disaster and Emergency Management considered an asset.
- Experience: 5 years’ experience as an Emergency Management Specialist or similar role.
- Knowledge of disaster management and emergency response procedures.
- Experience in an Emergency Operations Center considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of building safety codes and fire safety codes considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Strong decision-making and leadership skills.
- All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)._

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Plan and develop procedures and emergency management plans for response to and recovery from emergencies and disasters.
- Establish and maintain site Emergency Operations Center including training /onboarding of core members.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct exercises and drills to test the effectiveness of emergency management plans and procedures.
- Prepare and present reports on emergency preparedness and response activities, which include recommendations for improvement.
- Work with safety and environment resources to ensure regulatory requirements are met through compliance documentation and exercises.
- Inspect facilities and equipment used in emergency management operations to ensure they are working properly.
- Provide direct leadership/mentorship, for Emergency Response Team (ERT) including recruitment and coordination of training for members.
- Promote and coordinate cross-agency Confined Space rescue and Working at Height Rescue Training with external responding agencies (HRFE and CFB Halifax Fire).
