Summary Statement Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, the position is responsible for working co-operatively with the entire operations and shop team in an open office environment ensuring charter bookings and processing and communicating with operators to advise them of upcoming trips and changes in the scheduling. Will assist the route dispatcher ensuring all school bus runs are covered with drivers and appropriate equipment. Completion of high school or vocational equivalent Knowledge Essential 1. Intermediate computer skills Desirable 1. Previous experience in a dispatching position 2. Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations Special Qualifications 1. Valid B license would be desirable 2. Must have a “G” class license not a probationary license 3. First Aid qualified For a B Class License 4. Age requirement for the Ministry of Transportation is 21 5. Criminal search requirement for a B Class license for the Ministry of Transportation 6. A satisfactory drivers abstract 7. Ability to pass a required Ministry of Transportation medical, vision and written test prior to undergoing the company “B” license training program and maintain a class “B” license
- License must also be maintained via applicable renewals as per the Ministry requirements 8. Complete a School Bus Driver Improvement Course Major Duties and Responsibilities 1. Prepare charter order based on customer needs, provide quotes, confirm charter trip, assign charter to driver and enter charter information into dispatching software. 2. Assign charter trips, update trip information, deliver charter slips and maps when necessary. 3. Manage hours of work for all professional operators to meet Ministry of Transportation professional operator standards. 4. Assist the route dispatcher to find replacement/spare professional operators to maintain route dispatch. Final: June 2016 Landmark Bus Lines 3 Charter Dispatcher We’re With You. From Start To Finish 5. Perform two-way radio duties including: dispatching operators, scheduling concerns, and handling dispatch emergencies, questions and concerns including troubleshooting. 6. Enter dispatch data with 100% accuracy into tracking system to ensure zero errors on schedule. 7. Monitor en route radio communications and keep current and accurate logs of collisions. 8. Perform regular clerical office duties including but not limited to typing, data input, photocopying, mailings, and replenishing fuel sheets. 9. Responsible to comply with the cold weather start-up procedures. 10. Maintain complete knowledge and comply with company policies, procedures, and standards. 11. Maintain client and company confidence by keeping information confidential and secure. 12. Maintain a positive working relationship with team members and management in a team environment. 13. Set-up and organize individual work area with designated supplies, forms and resource materials while maintaining cleanliness at all times. 14. Operate a school vehicle over an assigned route in certain situations. 15. Represent the company in a front line capacity.
