**About the role**
We're looking for an Underwriting Assistant, Commercial Lines Auto to take on a 14 month secondment/contract opportunity in our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia or St. John's, Newfoundland office.
**What you'll do here**:
- Handle insurance policy endorsements and cancellations.
- Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly and courteously.
- Assist Underwriters with the administration of complex policies.
- Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies.
- Work closely to develop and maintain positive business partnerships with brokers and co-workers.
- Use the computer system for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting and rating transactions.
- Make recommendations to improve the department and increase its efficiency.
**What you bring to the table**:
- ** College diploma or University degree preferred**:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
- Strong keyboarding skills to process and input daily work data
- Highly organized to manage workflow efficiently without continuous supervision
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Initiative and ability to work under pressure
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools
- Team player
