Position Summary

As the Lead Estimator main responsibilities will be to confidently lead a team through the completion of a bid process under pressure while building strong relationships with subtrades. As well as being proactive contacting potential new clients and subcontractors.

What you’ll do:

- Provide clear, concise and professional communication with clients, consultants and stakeholders
- Prepare and analyze budgets for projects.
- Understand inclusions and exclusions of projects
- Submit RFIs when required
- Prepare take offs for various scopes of work with respect to the building process.
- Review plans and issue purchase orders to various trades at each scope to ensure site team has
- all purchase orders issued
- Monitor and manage the purchasing process
- Track Awarded Projects & Start Dates & Labour Requirements
- Support construction team and trade/supplier partners through any construction issues or discrepancies Develop and foster strong supplier relationships Discuss and communicate with various trades at every scope to obtain pricing Source new suppliers and materials through business networking.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of production schedules and budgets for construction
- Other duties as required

What you’ll need:

- 3-5 years of estimating experience in commercial tenant improvements
- Background in accounting or finance will be an asset
- Post-secondary degree and/or CET in the respective field of purchasing, estimation and or construction accounting will be an asset
- Must be able to articulate inclusions and exclusions of project scopes
- Must be thorough and detailed reading drawings, specs and scope
- Must be punctual
- Must have great communication and writing skills, must be able to articulate inclusions and exclusions of project scopes
- Must be able to use Google Space
- Excellent with technology and in depth experience with MS Office, Outlook and Excel & Spreadsheets
- Experience dealing with and estimating multi discipline trades like Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Concrete and general construction
- Effective time management skills, analytical skills and ability to prioritize to meet multiple deadlines
- Ability to review architectural blue prints
- Able to work well independently and in a team environment
- Negotiation skills are an asset
- Experience with BlueBeam is an asset

Travel Requirements:

- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean drivers abstract
