Parkland County has a _temporary full-time _Solid Waste Worker position available in the Public Works Services Department working from approximately May 13 to October 25, 2024. Reporting to the General Supervisor, Solid Waste Services, the Solid Waste Worker is responsible for the operation and maintenance of solid waste transfer stations and recycling centres including providing direction to solid waste facility users, monitoring solid waste identification cards, operating waste compactors, ensuring proper use of recycling and special waste areas, and general site maintenance of transfer station grounds. This position requires the ability to effectively communicate and maintain an effective, tactful service-oriented relationship with the public.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Alberta Certified Landfill and Composting Facility Operator Certification is considered an asset.
- Minimum one year experience in transfer station operation or solid waste handling.
- Experience operating equipment and hand/power tools.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain an effective, tactful service-oriented relationship with the public.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License. A current Driver’s Abstract must be provided.
