**Nature and Scope**
The Technology Officer provides coordination and administrative support for the Centre for Innovation and MakerLodge at SIIT. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.

**General Accountability**
The Technology Officer works collaboratively with the department and is responsible for technical operations and logistics support for the SIIT Centre for Innovation and MakerLodge. They organize user access and training to students, faculty, staff on proper usage of the technology, tools, materials. The incumbent will provide maintenance of equipment and oversee materials inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety, rules/policy guidelines.

The Technology Officer is responsible for providing technical support to MakerLodge users, and design and delivery of safety training. This role will effectively combine relevant, technical know-how, with excellent interpersonal skills and proven self-drive, to contribute to the development of SIIT's Centre for Innovation. This role provides additional support as required and includes the following broad range of accountabilities:
**Specific Accountabilities**

**_ Coordination & Administration_**
- Coordinate the installation, maintenance, repairs, calibration, troubleshooting, training, access and operation of MakerLodge equipment and infrastructure.
- With the Program Coordinator, help organize the purchase, asset management, stock control and safe disposal of equipment and consumables
- Provide technical support for events as required
- Oversee the day-to-day MakerLodge access and ensuring equipment is functioning and safe
- Contribute to developing and maintaining systems to plan use of MakerLodge resources, including equipment and training
- Run introductory sessions for members of the space to use of Makerlodge equipment and tools
- Run sessions especially for/with other partners inside the MakerLodge
- Document items made in MakerLodge and share on opensource sharing platforms
- Identify and plan for additional expertise as needed, including 3D modelling and digital fabrication, physical computing, soft circuits and makerspace craft

Research & Reporting_**
- Assist with the research as it relates to the improvement of Centre for Innovation technology and initiatives
- Assess and make recommendations for future technology needs
- Assist with the development and implementation of reports
- Gather and share feedback regarding technical and project needs
- Research facilitators, trainers, vendors for projects as directed by the Program Coordinator
- Complete period-ending reports as required
- Support the Program Coordinator to develop new concepts, particularly with relevant technical input

**_ Client Focus _**
- Liaise with facilitators and students as required and provide support on quality technical services that will enable them to develop their projects
- Work collaboratively across the SIIT learning community to contribute to a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
- Evaluate existing equipment, infrastructure, service delivery to identify opportunities for improvement
- Support users of the MakerLodge to realize projects, from concept to prototype
- Provide client and stakeholder services in a timely, efficient and tactful manner
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all clients, stakeholders, and funders
- Ensure a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning environment

**Required Qualifications and Experience**:A related degree or diploma with a minimum of three years of related experience in a Makerspace or fabrication workshop. The incumbent should be skilled in the operation and maintenance of sewing machines, 3D printers, Cameras, and other related technologies, or software. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered. Experience in a post-secondary institution and knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations would be an asset. The incumbent must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation as travel is required.
