About the Job

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Operations Paramedic Services, the Shift Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective day-to-day operations throughout the geographic coverage area of Bruce County Paramedic Services. The Superintendents rove throughout the County providing management direction to all front-line staff, ensuring delivery of quality emergency pre-hospital care and non-emergency medical transportation. Superintendents will also, on occasion, perform the duties of a Primary Care Paramedic when first on scene, or as required. The schedule is for 12 hr days and 12 hr nights. This is a part -time position, reporting out of the Walkerton Station or Port Elgin Headquarters.

**Requirements**:
Knowledge and Skill
- Two year post-secondary diploma in Paramedicine or equivalent
- Current certification as an Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant (AEMCA)
- Current, clean Class “F” driver’s license
- Four years of previous experience in the Ontario Paramedic/EMS system
- Two years of previous supervisory or management experience
- Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
- Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve or correct performance
- A well defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on mentoring and motivation of employees
- Experience with coaching and employee development
- Strong formal and informal leadership skills
