Host Agency Support Worker Wanted

Community Living Victoria (CLV) is the largest non-profit community living service provider on Vancouver Island, and provides a range of support services to children, youth and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families.

CLV is seeking a skilled and experienced support worker for a contracted position to assist a young woman and her mother to participate in recreational activities such as going for walks, hiking and spending time in the community.

Successful applicants will be energetic, fun-loving, open minded and share the individual’s love of nature and the great outdoors. Experience with family support is a definite asset for this position.

Details:

- This is a contract position, you are not considered an employee
- Contract length: Renews every 12 months
- Part-time hours: 7 hours per week
- Job Types: Part-time, Contract
- Salary: $26.20 per hour
- Driving is required, must have use of a vehicle

The 7 hours per week is spread over 3-4 days each week, typically including 1 day on the weekend, and always between 1:00pm and 3:30pm. Schedule is created directly with the individual’s family.

Qualifications:

- have previous experience supporting people with disabilities
- have a current first aid certification or be willing to re-certify
- be willing to consent to a Criminal Record Check through the Ministry of Justice
- have a Class 5 Driver’s license and vehicle
- be creative, flexible, friendly, and able to establish trust
- be open minded and share a love of nature and being outdoors
- be health conscious and in good health
- wear practical clothing and footwear suitable for outdoor activities
- have proof of vaccination

This position is an independent contract and contractors are not employees of Community Living Victoria. These contracts are renewed on an annual basis contingent upon both parties wanting to continue the contract, and if credentials are up to date.

Qualified applicants will be required to participate in an in-depth interview by family members.
