Durham College is seeking a part-time Culinary Technician in the Centre for Food. The incumbent will work 24 hours per week at the Whitby Campus at a rate of $23.29 per hour.

**Duties Include**:

- Receive all orders to confirm accuracy and ensure quality meet college specifications
- Place orders with suppliers as required
- Prepare requisition carts in a timely and organized manner, and communicate with Culinary Technologist, Professors and Chefs if any changes or differences occur to requested orders
- Follow FIFO stock rotation and strategize to minimize food waste whenever possible
- Maintain accurate records generated from program activities and special events, and complete product transfer forms for retail operations and academic returns
- Assist with monthly inventory counts and occasional spot checks
- Assist with the maintenance, cleanliness and organization of culinary labs and lab equipment, retail operations areas and storage areas in accordance with Durham Region Health Department regulations
- Provide support for retail operations, including but not limited to food production and packaging
- Assist with special events and provide support for culinary functions
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Degree/Diploma in Culinary or Hospitality Management
- Valid First Aid Certification
- Valid Food Safety Certification
- Valid Smart Serve Certification
- Minimum of 3 years practical experience in a full-service kitchen
- Superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift heavy materials and be on your feet for extended periods of time
- Demonstrated attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and work efficiently and effectively under the pressure of high-volume operations and changing priorities
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle

**Required Skills**:
Hourly rate: $23.39
