**Details of Role**:
Marco MacLeod MLA Pictou West is seeking an individual to fill the position of Constituency Assistant (Casual) at their Constituency Office in Pictou. The position is **approximately one day a week + covering vacations and time off as required**.

The Constituency Assistant (CA) will provide administrative assistance and support to the elected Member of the Legislative Assembly including communications, public relations, marketing, organization, scheduling, casework, advocacy and other services as appropriate. The CA may work alone in the constituency office and will contribute towards an efficient workflow.

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Assists with front-line support to constituents as well as manages and responds to constituent casework including intake, outreach and correspondence
- Prepares Member Statements and Notices of Motion/Resolutions for the MLA to present to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly.
- Prepares certificates, congratulatory notes, sympathy cards, etc.
- Identifies upcoming community events and adds to MLA Calendar and website
- Assists with gathering relevant information to resolve cases and connect constituents to local and provincial departments and resources etc.
- Ensures records are kept and information managed confidentially
- Assists with MLA social media posts
- May be required to plan and/or attend special events and provincial announcements
- Housekeeping duties at the office

**Qualities, Skills & Experience**:

- Positive attitude
- Ability to prioritize requests for assistance, respond and inform in a timely and professional manner, and to manage competing demands and responsibilities
- Self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and initiative
- Effective communication, customer service, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Ability to work proactively and independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Knowledge of government departments and navigating community services and resources is an asset
- Comfortable taking photos and using graphic design tools is an asset
- Social media savvy is an asset

**Start date: Week of July 1st, 2024.**

**Closing date: Monday, June 10th, at 8:00 am.**

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 7 - 10 per week

Flexible Language Requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Weekends as needed

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)
