Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools has an opening for a full time Director of Plant Facilities. Situated in the City and County of Wetaskiwin, WRPS has fifteen schools, a maintenance shop and a central administration building. WRPS serves the educational needs of approximately 4000 students in a combination of rural and urban communities. Under the direction of the Associate Superintendent; Business, the Director of Plant Facilities serves as the leader of the Facilities Department to plan and direct the functioning of the facility services for the division. The Director is also responsible for the recruitment, retention, supervision and evaluation of all facility services personnel.

Primary responsibilities include the following:
**Leadership**
- Provide leadership in all facility related matters
- Practices leadership in a positive, collaborative and team-based manner
- Utilizes a collaborative leadership style to plan and create/implement a vision for the facilities department
- Facilitates and supports the implementation of the Board’s roles and responsibilities as defined in Board policy and encourages others to do the same
- Establishes and maintains positive and professional working relationships

**Fiscal Responsibility**
- Ensures the fiscal management of the Facilities Department is in accordance with the terms and/or conditions of any funding received by the Board under the School Act or any other applicable Act or Regulation
- Identifies and prioritizes maintenance, renovation and system replacement projects
- Working with the Associate Superintendent; Business prepare multi-year budgets that are reviewed and revised accordingly on an annual basis

**Personnel Management**
- Ensures personnel management is in accordance with WRPS Administrative Procedures and acceptable practices
- Ensures the supervision and evaluation of Facility personnel
- Ensures all staff within the facilities department comply with the Health & Safety program and practices
- Ensures all staff within the department perform daily duties in a manner conducive to a safe workplace

**Organizational Management**
- Ensures that all facilities are operational, properly maintained and provide a safe and comfortable environment for student learning
- Ensure annual maintenance, renovations and system replacement priority projects are completed in a timely manner
- Develop guidelines and standards for maintenance, repair and cleaning of all Division owned buildings and grounds
- Develop and monitor non-personnel contracts, agreements and partnerships with outside agencies
- Utilizes technology effectively in relation to all facilities department operations

Qualifications:

- Experience and expertise in building trades management and project management
- Thorough knowledge of Building Codes, related legislation, trends and best practices
- Journeyman Certification in an Alberta building trade or building related engineering diploma would be an asset
- Strong knowledge of safety legislation and guidelines, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Codes, WHMIS, TDG Act, WCB Regulations
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills
- Intermediate level of computer knowledge
- Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license

Pay: $89,900.00-$112,375.00 per year

**Education**:

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
