**Job Description** Responsibilities**
- Independently performs minor repairs and minor maintenance to Facilities and related systems including but not limited to basic electrical (installing switches, replacing receptacles etc.), mechanical, plumbing replacing sinks, toilets, faucets etc.) furniture/fixtures/equipment (FFE).
- Assists Certified and Licensed Team Members in performing significant repairs and maintenance to Facilities and related systems.
- Performs inspections of Facilities and related systems using checklists and logs, providing documentation of findings and independently taking action as required to correct any findings or advising management as required.
- Utilizing the work order system, completes assignments in a timely manner ensuring they are completed on a priority basis. Performs emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
- Performs furniture/fixture/equipment (FFE) relocations and setups within and between Facilities.
- Maintains appropriate record and reports in a timely manner.
- Responds to routine on-demand service requests, emergency call-ins; assists other Facility employees; and performs other related duties, as required.

**Complexity**
- Work is primarily of an unskilled nature. Tasks are routine, well defined and recurring.
- General maintenance work and inspections are documented.
- Uses judgement to interpret general work instructions
- Interprets work instructions and simple drawings.

**Initiative and Accountability**
- Reports irregularities/issues to others for action.
- Accountable for the timely completion and quality of own work.
- Ensures the manner in which work is performed is in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices and guidelines related to Life Safety, environment and any other applicable requirements.
- Work is assigned through a Work Order System and includes written instructions and simple diagrams. Progress is reported daily.
- Shows initiative by recommending faster or more efficient means to accomplish task.
- Initiates Work Orders for adhoc requests from internal customers and self identified facility deficiencies.

**Communication and Giving Guidance**
- Communicates effectively with team members and interacts with internal customers.
- Assists other team members to achieve assigned tasks.
- Keeps team members and supervisor informed of progress and situations requiring attention of others.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.
- Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency.
- Minimal requirement to provide guidance to others.
- Contributes ideas to improve processes.

**Qualifications**
- Equivalent to a Grade 12 level of education at an Ontario Secondary school
- Requires over 1 year of related experience.
- Demonstrated awareness of federal and provincial standards/codes related to maintenance and care of Facilities.
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing a trades certification or license, an asset.
- Valid provincial Drivers License.

**Additional Information** Physical Effort**
- Daily labour, including extensive walking, bending, pushing/pulling, climbing, awkward postures, and lifting/carrying and handling heavy objects. Effort varies from some to considerable depending on the task e.g. unloading of trucks, installation of system furniture, moving furniture, relocating items, taking down ceilings, shovelling snow, etc. Duration and frequency; moderate.
