**Lab Assistant**

**Location**: Cropland Analytics, 51209 Range Rd 193, AB T0B 4J5

**About the Position**:
This position will assist with routine laboratory functions, such as preparing soil/plant tissue samples for analysis and routine lab maintenance. You will be working independently and in a team environment, with an emphasis on providing quality and efficient service to clients.

Specific Responsibilities
- Receive samples, scan QR codes, data entry;
- Measure sample mass/volume, prepare samples for analysis using basic lab equipment, perform extractions using common laboratory solvents;
- Responsible for the calibration, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of basic lab instruments;
- Clean glassware and laboratory equipment;
- Samples shelving, archiving, and disposal;
- Prepare reagents, standards, and reference materials;
- Perform all required record-keeping and documentation;
- Monitor controlled equipment
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all lab health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Good English communication skills required.
- Intermediate user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook
- Organized and process oriented;
- High attention to detail;
- Work independently and as part of a team;
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;
- Commitment to excellence and a client-focused attitude.

Required Qualifications
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required;
- Some experience working in a fast-paced, production, and/or preparation environment;
- Knowledge from high school science courses and/or basic laboratory safety is an asset;
- Experience working with chemicals or in a laboratory setting (ex. school) is an asset, but not required.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 30 per week

**Salary**: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
