**Role Description**:
The Lab Supervisor acts as primary oversight for the personnel and daily work of the chemistry technical team. This role has significant influence and impact on team composition and culture, in addition to safety, quality, and delivery outcomes, and the lab achieving its targets.

The mission for this role is based on four main deliverables:
1. Achieve consistent on-time production of test data while maintaining quality. You will coordinate personnel scheduling, workload distribution and resource allocation to meet dynamic operating conditions and commercial demands.

2. Develop and lead a cohesive team of A players. You will coach, train, guide, support, and hold your people individually and collectively accountable in order to help them grow professionally and perform at their best. Overcome social challenges to achieve team unity.

3. Develop and operate training programs for test methods and safety that minimize lead time for technician proficiency. You will build sufficient technical redundancy to ensure service coverage is reliable and can accommodate localized burst demands.

Econotech has a 50-year history, very loyal customer base, and an industry-leading position. Yet we are gaining new traction in our North American market and are poised for significant growth in the coming years. In line with this, the technical team must function within an effective lab operations model - the best practises, processes and systems that will enable successful growth and continually improved operations.

4. Alongside senior collaborators, the Lab Supervisor will build the lab operations model and the operational excellence required to achieve best-in-class lead times, productivity, quality and safety.

This role has a peer in the Lab Supervisor - Physical/Optical and Pilot Plant. It works closely with Client Services and operational leaders of Quality, Equipment and Continuous Improvement. For admin purposes it reports to the head of the company, the CEO.
- Supervisory experience in a production setting (contract laboratory, manufacturing, etc)
- Technical background (scientific, engineering, tech management, etc)
- Proven leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to build, guide and inspire a team.
- Strong planning and coordination skills. Organizing people and resources comes naturally.
- Strong sense of accountability
- Driven - unsatisfied with status quo and committed to continuous improvement
- Well suited and eager to act as a key resource in implementing operational solutions
- Very comfortable in software environments. Highly proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word)
- Native or near-native English spoken and written communication skills

**Compensation**:

- Annual Bonus: You will be eligible to participate in the company’s annual bonus program. Typically, 5-10% of base salary depending on company and personal performance.

- The position is full-time and site-based at our Annacis Island, Delta BC facility, though we offer flexibility within reason.
