**Position Summary**

Reporting into the office of the Business & Facilities Operations, the incumbent is responsible for the collection and organization of the energy management systems across all Laurier Campuses. The Analyst, Energy Systems will track and record the utility data, develop and implement strategies to reduce the consumption of electricity, natural gas, and water, while also working with the sustainability office. They will provide support for energy conservation initiatives and will highlight areas where incentive programs are available. The incumbent will collect, monitor, analyze and report energy data from Laurier’s portfolio of multi-campus buildings. In addition, they will identify gaps and errors in utility bills and search out improvements/efficiencies associated with the metering infrastructure and energy software platforms.

**Accountabilities**

**Administrative Support**
- Collect, input and monitor energy and water use across the multi-campus building portfolio, utilizing utility bills, sub-meter data, and energy management software.
- Support the validation, reliability, and maintenance of the energy metering network to ensure all equipment is operating correctly and providing the highest level of data quality.
- Utilize energy management software automation features to notify/alarm when energy or water consumption exceeds specified targets or when meters require verification or maintenance.
- Validate consumption of natural gas, electricity, and water.
- Operate energy management software platforms in order to analyze, communicate, monitor and report on energy and water consumption, electrical demand, energy intensity, and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.
- Complete monthly data reconciliation reports for submission to Finance.

**Energy Systems Support**
- Provide support and analysis to achieve Laurier’s Energy Management Plan.
- Actively pursue and secure energy reduction and renewable energy grants.
- Support University compliance with government regulations. Provide reports as required.
- Plan and develop benchmarking metrics and energy usage analysis.
- Work with outside consultants and campus personnel to develop, recommend and implement programs and procedures related to energy use and conservation.
- Encourage reductions of energy use and promote conservation awareness throughout the university community by interfacing with various campus constituencies.
- Assist in the development of new university wide energy conservation policies.
- Seek improvements to organization and handling of utility bills and sub-metered data. Work with software providers and Energy Metering Consultant to fully automate data transfer between energy meters and software database.

- Assist in implementing system modifications as required.
- Support the tracking and documentation of the University's carbon footprint.
- Monitor all facilities design, construction, and maintenance activities related to energy management.

**Qualifications**
- Completion of degree or diploma in a related science, engineering or related electrical/mechanical field; 2-3 years work experience, with utilities, energy consulting, and/or energy industry experience.
