This law office is a well-established law firm based in Markham, Ontario (Markham and Highway 7). Our practice areas include residential and commercial real estate, wills and estates, and business law. We are seeking to hire a full-time experienced lawyer to lead our real estate team.
- **Position**:_ Real Estate Lawyer

- **Responsibilities**:_
- Handing all aspects of real estate transactions
- Reviewing complex loan commitments and other financial documents
- Drafting legal documents in areas including corporate, real estate and security
- Liaising with clients, lawyers, and brokers
- Working in collaboration with support staff in a respectul and professional manner
- Ordering and negotiating title insurance policies
- Attending to closings, reviewing title searches, registering transactions and documents, meeting with clients to review documentation, preparing reporting letters, and preparing other transactional documents
- Staying abreast of industry standards and business trends through participation in professional workshops, practicing communities & individual learning
- **Qualifications**:_
- Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- 1+ year of work experience at a real estate law firm, high volume preferred
- Must be experienced in real estate law
- Must be organized and possess excellent time management skills
- Experience in areas of lending, family law, estates, wills, and POA is a plus but not required
- Must have a strong understanding of real estate purchase, sale, mortgage transaction rules, and procedures
- Strong work ethic and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work as an individual and in a team environment
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task, work both independently and within a team-oriented environment
- Excellent computer skills and use of Microsoft Office 365, specifically Word and Excell
- Strong working knowledge of Teraview and other software pertinent to the position (Closer, Unity etc.)
- **More about the role**:_
- 1-year full time-contract with permanent status available after fulfillment
- Must own and have access to a vehicle at all times
- Mandatory attendance at Company’s Annual Events
- Participate in all marketing projects, inclusive of social media content creation
- Must be willing and able to complete remote closings for clients who require such services (to be completed virtually however may require time outside of the typically business hours)
- **Work Schedule**:_ Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, but MUST be flexible to work evenings and weekends on closings for clients IF required (we do not expect overtime hours; you will be expected to manage your own time appropriately)
