**JOB TITLE: Educational Assistant**

**DEPARTMENT: English as an Additional Language**

**REPORTS TO: EAL Resource Teacher**

**STATUS: Full time - School Year**

**JOB SUMMARY**:The Educational Assistant (EA) supports the work of teachers and clinicians

while working with individual students or students in small groups. The EA supports the

academic process, growth, and advancement of Linden Christian School by providing support to

students in the English as an Additional Language program._ _

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Working one-on-one or with small groups of students in K - 12 during French pull-outs or

work periods to reinforce, review and instruct, with a focus on teaching language skills

as requested;
- Providing in-class support to assist, clarify and explain instructions and assignments as

needed; connecting with teachers to ensure student needs are being met;
- Supervising out-of-class quizzes, tests, and exams;
- Working one-on-one or with several students to follow the EAL Bible Curriculum, as

requested;
- Providing further assistance to students, explaining/clarifying homework, and teaching

language skills, one-on-one/small groups in a setting of 15 - 20 Gr. 7 - 12 students as

scheduled;
- Supervision duties as requested.

**Academic/Educational Requirements**:

- TESOL Certification preferred
- Experience teaching English to speakers of other languages preferred

**Additional Qualifications/Skills**:

- Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently;
- High degree of initiative, organizational, prioritizing and time management skills;
- Ability to interact effectively and positively with administration, staff, students and the

public and outside agencies;
- Ability to meet multiple demands and deadlines with many interruptions;
- Strong analytical abilities;
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and follow up;
- Effective interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills;

- Good understanding of the role and maintaining confidentiality and privacy issues;
- Ability to deal with difficult and sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy;
- Ability to effectively adapt to changing situations or increased responsibilities within the

workplace;
- The desire and ability to engage in continuing education and professional development.
