**Days/Hours of Work**: Monday - Friday; 1:00pm to 9:00pm (37.5 hrs)

**Status**:6-Month Temporary, Full-Time

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Performs daily janitorial cleaning functions in SHOAL Community Centre, SHOAL Assisted Living residence and SHOAL kitchen
- Performs building and equipment maintenance such as painting, plumbing and carpentry tasks as required
- Works collaboratively with SHOAL Centre Managers, Director and user groups in following daily schedule requirements
- Assists in the set up and take down of rooms for rentals and catering and regular user groups
- Interacts in a positive and supportive manner with clients, SHOAL user groups and volunteers and assists them when needed
- Responsible for weekly cleaning and fuel top up for the Beacon Bus
- Ensure the centre and function room appearance are maintained in accordance with Beacon Community Services policies and procedures
- Provides enhanced cleaning and sanitation as required with policies and procedures mandated by public health
- Organizes and removes waste and recycling
- Orders and replenishes cleaning supplies and toiletries for the community centre
- Helps maintain Material Safety Data Sheets for cleaning supplies
- Asset recovery, maintaining tidy and organized storage rooms and spaces, packing and preparing donated materials for Beacon Thrift Shops
- Knows and follows all health & safety requirements affecting the job,
- Reports unsafe conditions immediately to Management.
- Other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE**:

- High school graduate
- 2 - 4 years’ experience with custodial services or similar experiences
- Experience in working with seniors and volunteers
- First Aid (preferred)

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Positive and professional attitude
- Ability to take direction and learn procedures
- Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team
- Demonstrated organizational/time management skills, ability to multi-task
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Committed to providing quality service
