Remote, Canada Evoke Learning Full time

**Virtual Math Tutor**

**Position Title**: Virtual Math Tutor for Grades 3-12

**Location**: Virtual/Remote

**About Evoke Learning**

Evoke is a learning and wellness centre that supports students striving to achieve their full academic potential and enhance their social-emotional well-being. Our tutors, academic strategists, and coaches are dedicated to creating a student-centred support model using holistic approaches informed by current cognitive science. We understand that everyone’s learning journey is unique, and we consider the student to be the expert in their own life. The Evoke network is a community that puts students first.

**Evoke works with many types of students, including**:

- Those who are struggling academically
- Individuals diagnosed with learning disabilities, ADHD, and/or giftedness
- Students who are underperforming and have much greater potential to achieve their goals
- Learners who require intensive instruction or additional time to process information without feeling stigmatized in the classroom
- Students who are capable of completing academic work but need to acquire strategies and time management skills to increase their success
- Students with extraordinary goals

Students who struggle in math have gaps in their learning for a variety of reasons: lack of self-efficacy, challenges with focus and staying on task, mindset, problems processing information at the same rate as their peers, deficits in psychological processes (such as working memory), and inadequate practice to master concepts and skills. To succeed in math in higher grades, it is critical that students master lower-level skills. Evoke’s high-dosage approach begins with tutoring the student in current grade-level content and strategically building-in key lower-grade concepts when they require them for proficiency in grade-level work. This ensures that students spend more time on grade-level work, don’t continue to fall behind, and can ultimately catch up.
