**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Manager, Employment Services, the Employment Consultant provides a wide range of employment related services to clients preparing for training, employment and/or employment maintenance activities. The incumbent collaborates with other Community Employment Services staff to promote services in the community and provide a seamless continuum of employment services for both job seekers and employers.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Employment Counselling/Service Planning
- Provides advice and information to job seekers on a variety of topics, including occupational requirements, labour market information, vocational training options, employment and labour practices and apprenticeships
- Determines appropriate service intervention offerings to clients. (e.g. Job Matching, Job Retention, Better Jobs Ontario, workshops and program referrals)
- Completes initial intake interviews, and assessments to determine clients’ skills, abilities, aptitudes and barriers
- Assists job seekers with the development of personal action plans
- Refers job seekers to appropriate community service when required
- Maintains client confidentiality and ensures a risk-free environment allowing for personal disclosure
- Assists clients to access employment opportunities Through assessment and reasonability check list, determine eligibility for Canada Ontario Job Grant (COJG), researching training and training providers for appropriate referrals to employers
- Caseload Management
- Oversees a large caseload of individuals seeking employment or training and related services
- Documents the level of client support needed and the level of client support provided
- Responsible for entering all client information into the EOIS-Cams system for Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) and data entry in ESCases software
- Adheres strictly to all protection of information legislation
- Meets or exceeds assigned targets for client intake and outcomes
- Adjusts priorities in order to meet assigned activity levels
- Oversees dispersal of support allowances to clients in need of financial assistance
- Composes and organizes client case notes that clearly document the client’s needs and strategies to support the client
- Responsible for the administration and delivery of Canada Ontario Job Grant (COJG) including assessment for employer funding decisions Conducts monitoring and follow-ups with clients and employers
- Job Developing, Marketing and Placement
- Initiates, develops and maintains relationships with employers in the community to identify job leads and support employment maintenance activities
- Develops both subsidized and unsubsidized placement opportunities for multi-berried clients, while managing employer expectations
- Completes training incentive placement agreements with employers including placement agreement signing, invoicing instructions and training plan development
