**About the role**:
The House of Commons' Trades Services is currently looking to staff the following positions: Furniture Upholsterer (OSG-G) and Furniture Upholsterer Apprentice (OSG-I).

**About the role for the position of Furniture Upholsterer**:
The Furniture Upholsterer is responsible for the provision of upholstery services aimed at conserving heritage pieces and antiques while also providing services to the House’s clientele: Administration, Library of Parliament and MP’s for custom furniture upholstery, including soft seating repairs, rebuilding, restyling and designing, restoring heritage and high grade premium furniture and furnishings, and asset preservation. You will also assist as required (i.e. special events in the Chamber) in providing acoustical padding for doors.

**About the role for the position of Furniture Upholsterer Apprentice**:
The Furniture Upholsterer Apprentice is assisting in the provision of upholstery services and in the upholstery of heritage pieces and antiques. You are expected to learn the various specialized techniques, materials and tools used in the delivery of upholstery services to clients of the Parliamentary Precinct.

The House of Commons' Trades Services is currently looking to staff the following positions: Furniture Upholsterer (OSG-G) and Furniture Upholsterer Apprentice (OSG-I).

**Qualifications**

**For the Apprentice position**:
**Education**:

- Certificate of Qualification as an Upholsterer obtained through a community or vocational college, OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

**Experience**:

- Basic experience in furniture upholstering;
- Experience in the use of various materials, equipment and tools.

**For the Furniture Upholsterer position**:
**Education**:

- Post-secondary education certification in upholstery combined with practical experience OR acceptable combination of relevant education, training and experience.

**Experience**:

- Vast experience using power and pneumatic tools and of all specialized and ancestral tools such as: webbing and spring stretchers, mallet, ripping chisel, knives, foam cutters, spring cutters, clinch-it tool, large variety of specialized needles etc;

**Salary**: $43,140.00-$67,636.00 per year
