Administrative New Full-time Position

The Principal Investigator - Production and Development is responsible for working with internal stakeholders on all phases of the development and implementation of digital learning simulations. To fulfil this mandate, the incumbent will deliver a broad range of services and solutions, such as: project consultation, planning, and production oversight related to the creation of learning simulations with VARLab’s development team for various disciplines across the college.

**Responsibilities**:

- Obtaining informational requirements from content experts for DLS (Digital Learning Simulation) projects, revising as needed based on feedback from content experts and internal stakeholders
- Leading and overseeing all aspects of the development team’s development work, particularly establishing the priorities for each sprint, client demo, and ensuring content experts are involved and providing feedback on demos
- Ensuring DLS projects are delivered on time, and with acceptable quality
- Working with the DLS team to develop storyboarding prior to the development
- Coaching and mentoring student developers
- Ensuring JIRA and Confluence are updated with work plans and progress
- Co-supervising, in collaboration with other members of the VLT (VARLab leadership team), the workflow of work-study, co-op and work placement students on projects that advance the development of digital learning simulations
- Working as part of the VLT to innovate, problem-solve, and identify processes and procedures to ensure high-quality learning simulations are delivered according to schedule
- Collaborating with the DLS Project Manager (Pedagogical Development) to ensure learning objectives are identified and met in simulation development as articulated in the course outline for the intended course the simulation will be deployed in
- Developing User Acceptance Testing protocols and questions for testing completed simulations with faculty and students

**Qualifications**:

- Three-year Diploma/Degree in Software Product Management, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Simulation and Game Development or related field
- Three years of relevant practical experience with software development and/or software product management
- Significant practical experience in Agile Software Development practices, Instructional Design or Educational Technology, and Project Management or Business Administration is strongly preferred
- High-level communication and consultation skills
- Significant project management skills and knowledge
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop and implement quality assurance practices, processes and systems
