Job Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in Urban Planning or related discipline combined with some experience in a municipal or similar setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eligibility for membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners.
- Sound knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Professional (i.e., manipulate PDFs) and Accessible Documents.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and courteously with elected officials, all levels of staff, external government agencies, the development community, and the public, with the ability to respect confidentiality.
- Demonstrated communication, analytical, interpretive, problem-solving, interpersonal, negotiation, report writing and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute Professional Code of Practice.
- Good knowledge of planning principles.
- Ability to organize, shift priorities and work independently.
- Available to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime as required.
